Ryza reaches 100 goals in win

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Ryan De Vries grabbed a double to become only the second Auckland City FC player to score over 100 goals for the club as the Navy Blues defeated East Coast Bays 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Bay City Park.
With his brace De Vries has reached 101 goals for the club with only Emilian Tade scoring more for City before ending his Navy Blues career with 152 goals in 242 appearances.
Chasing his 100 milestone De Vries broke the deadlock against East Coast Bays in the 22nd minute finding the net after being set by a dangerous Gerard Garriga delivery.
The Navy Blues looked the better side from the outset restricting the home side to just a few attempts on the counter but the game remained in the balance until De Vries scored his second of the match in the 83rd minute by tapping home from inside the box to put the result beyond doubt.
In-form forward Liam Gillion sealed the win with his ninth goal in eight matches as the Navy Blues have secured three crucial points before departing to Tahiti for the OFC Champions League.
The win means Albert Riera’s men remain on top of the Northern League table, three points clear of Western Springs who defeated Auckland United 3-1.
In other results Birkenhead cruised past Eastern Suburbs 4-1 while West Coast have picked up all three points with a 3-1 win over Melville United.
Manurewa overcame Hamilton Wanderers 2-1 while Tauranga City defeated Bay Olympic 5-1.
The Navy Blues will quickly shift their focus to the 2024 OFC Champions League starting next weekend in Tahiti.
The reigning Oceania champion sare in Group A and will face Fijian champions Rewa FC, Papua New Guinea champions Hekari United, and the Solomon Warriors from Solomon Islands, with the top two sides in each group advancing to the semi-finals.
