AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Dan Morgan is one of Auckland City FC’s most exceptional midfielders and is particularly dangerous down the left and right flanks.
Morgan has played for the Navy Blues in the past and featured heavily in last year’s 2017/18 ISPS Handa Premiership campaign, in which Auckland City FC finished as champions after beating Team Wellington in the Grand Final with a 1-0 victory.
Here are five facts to know about the Navy Blues favourite, Dan Morgan.
1. Asthma led Morgan to play football
As a child, Morgan had Asthma and with advice from the Doctors, Morgan began to look for new ways to get fresh air. He eventually took up football and with a little practice and playing, Morgan began to love the sport. As an adult, Morgan has been to numerous FIFA Club World Cups, as well as playing at the highest level of football in the country. He no longer has Asthma as a result of his journey in football.
2. Gaming a big part of Morgan’s life
In his down time, Morgan likes to chill out and play video games. The midfielder is a big fan of PS4 and PC games. He enjoys playing DotA 2, HoN (Heroes of Newerth) and shooter games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Fortnite: Battle Royale.
3. Really into Men’s Streetwear Fashion
Aside from football, another passion of Morgan’s is Men’s Streetwear Fashion. The attacking midfielder claims he’s all about Men’s Streetwear Fashion and even used to work for a few Men’s clothing stores.
4. Morgan’s first tattoo was done on his friends’ deck by his mate
As well as fashion, Morgan is a fan tattoos and got his first one down on his mate’s deck.
5. Assist to Riki Van Steeden in 2009 – Morgan’s favourite footballing memory.
The year 2009 saw Morgan travel with Auckland City FC to the UAE to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup. Progressing past the Play-Off after defeating Al-Ahli by 2-0, the Navy Blues took on Mexican side, Atlante, who proved to be too strong of an opposition, defeating Auckland City FC by 3-0. The Navy Blues then played TP Mazembe in the fifth-place playoff of the tournament, with Riki Van Steeden scoring a last-minute goal, to win the match for Auckland City FC – A goal which was set up by Dan Morgan, who says that this is his favourite footballing memory.
