WELLINGTON, New Zealand - Auckland City FC stay top of the ISPS Handa Premiership after a comfortable 3-0 over Wellington Phoenix at David Farrington Park in the capital.
Goals for Reid Drake, Jordan Vale and Dan Morgan were on target as the Navy Blues maintained their 100 percent winning start to the season.
The Navy Blues opened the scoring through Vale after just 22 minutes but had to wait until after the restart for Morgan to double the advantage.
The game was made safe by Drake on the hour mark.
Coach Ramon Tribulietx was pleased with another win but said the Wellington Phoenix gave his side a few things to think about with the way they approached the match.
"It was a very well played game and we had a lot of ball. The Phoenix were technically good, very aggressive and held a very high line.
"In the first half we didn't didn't understand in some ways the very high line. Sometimes we managed to penetrate that line, sometimes we didn't.
"We sorted that out at halftime and in the second half we were better and we found a solution which was good to see.

"Some moves with the ball were fantastic, oiur one touch passing was very good at times. The Phoenix held the ball quite well and fair play to the way they used their wing backs because it made our life difficult in trying to implement our press.
"Defensively we did well and they didn't create many chances apart from a few half shots or crosses from wide areas.
"We had good possession, created good chances and a good result which we have to be happy about," Tribulietx said.
The Navy Blues next match is away to Hamilton Wanderers at Porritt Stadium on Sunday 2 December 2018.
The match kicks off at 4.35pm NZST and is live on Sky Sport.
