CANTERBURY UNITED DRAGONS COACH WILLY GERDSEN
Willy Gerdsen (to Fairfax 22 September 2017): “Nobody else has a stronger local influence than we have. I'm really proud we have so many local players. Look at the other squads. There are not many locals there. Let's say Hamilton Wanderers, they bring in Papua New Guinea and Auckland players. They are not really locals. It's quite funny. Tasman bring in all these guys from Wairarapa United and an English striker and Southern does the same with out of town players and everyone says 'Hooray, we've got another English guy'. If we do this, we get hammered [by the Christchurch football community], so I don't really see the point."

CONFIRMED CANTERBURY UNITED SQUAD:
Goalkeepers: Coey Turipa, Danny Knight, Lew Gordon

Defenders: Tom Schwarz, Sean Liddicoat, Andreas Wilson, Aaron Spain, Dan Terris, George King, Liam Gerathy, Harrison Bowman, Jacob Richards.

Midfielders: Aaron Clapham, Gary Ogilvie, Cory Mitchell, Juan Chang, Roddy Lockhart, Sebastian Schacht, Seth Clark.

Strikers: Stephen Hoyle, Futa Nakamura, Travis Nicklaw.
