AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC will face New Zealand U-17 in a pre-season friendly at QBE Stadium outer oval pitches on September 19 at 7pm NZST.

Ramon Tribulietx's side assembled two weeks ago and face a second friendly this time with ISPS Handa Premiership opposition in the form of Ricki Herbert's new-look Hamilton Wanderers side on Saturday at Onetangi Domain on Waiheke Island.

The Kiwitea Street side have six new signings and supporters will be hoping to catch a glimpse of the new recruits for the first time.

Tribulietx says the infusion of new talent, mostly local, is exciting and will invigorate competition for places.

"We have a bigger squad than in previous years, that has a lot to do with the change of rules in the OFC Champions League.

"The new players that have come in are very competitive and there's a hunger which is very positive.

"It is always positive to have new personnel out there to freshen up the motivation across the entire squad and training has been very intense and competitive," he told www.aucklandcityfc.com.

Auckland City FC begins its ISPS Handa Premiership away to Team Wellington in the Charity Cup on Sunday 15 October at 2pm.

Tomorrow's friendly match kicks off at 7pm.
