AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC's OFC Champions League triumph received some added gloss when former Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers and England international Graham Roberts visited Kiwitea Street.

Roberts won the UEFA Cup, two FA Cups, the Scottish Premier League and a Scottish League Cup medal during his time with both Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers, is on a whistle stop visit to New Zealand courtesy of the Kiwi Spurs Supporters Club.

The 57-year-old won six caps with England and now works with Tottenham Hotspur in a public relations role and took in today's OFC Champions League clash between Auckland City FC and AS Tefana.

"I was impressed with what I saw from Auckland City FC - they're a very well organised team, physically strong and disciplined and they could've won by a few more goals today.

"The hospitality I've received not only from the Tottenham Hotspur supporters club but from Auckland City FC, the Kiwi True Blues RSC and the public in general has been superb.

"New Zealand is a beautiful place and we're headed to Waiheke Island tomorrow and playing some golf on Tuesday before we head to Hong Kong.

"I'll have my eye out to see how Auckland City FC do in the final with the old enemy Team Wellington and I wish everyone all the best for the OFC Champions League final," Roberts told www.aucklandcityfc.com

Auckland City FC chairman Ivan Vuksich presented Roberts with a Navy Blues replica top and was effusive in his praise for what Roberts' achievements.

"Graham is a very down to earth person and its easy to see why Kiwi Spurs welcomed him to New Zealand as their guest speaker.

"The Tottenham Hotspur side of the 1980s had some wonderful players like Graham, Glenn Hoddle, Steve Perryman, Steve Archibald and Garth Crooks to name just a few and it was our pleasure to host him and his partner Gail at Kiwitea Street today," Vuksich said.

Auckland City FC defeated Tahiti's AS Tefana 2-0 at Kiwitea Street thanks to goals by Emiliano Tade and Joao Moreira to take the tie 4-0 on aggregate.

The Navy Blues now face Team Wellington in the OFC Champions League final on April 29-30 and May 6-7.
