AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC's top of the table Stirling Sports Premiership clash with league champions Team Wellington takes on added meaning with the NZF Charity Cup trophy up for grabs.

This is the highlight of the round on more than one front as it brings together last year’s finalists and also offers silverware to the victors in the form of the Charity Cup.

That trophy has previously been up for grabs in a pre-season clash but is instead being contested in the middle of this campaign due to the season being brought forward to accommodate the OFC Champions League dates.

The Navy Blues have already gained revenge on the Wellingtonians for stealing their Premiership crown by putting four unanswered goals past them but that was way back in the opening round and facing Jose Figueira’s side is now a very different proposition.

The defending champions have spent Christmas at the top of table but City are just a point behind and have a game in hand so a win here would make them favourites for the minor title.

Auckland City FC have appeared in all five Charity Cup finals having won three and lost two.

The Charity Cup final will be decided on kicks from the penalty mark if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

There will be no extra time played.

Each team will receive one Stirling Sports Premiership competition point for the draw each.

The Charity Cup final is contested between the winners of the Stirling Sports Premiership grand final and the Stirling Sports Premiership minor premiers on an annual basis.
