Rain fails to thwart Futsal Navy Blues
TAURANGA, New Zealand - It was a splashdown at the Mercury Arena for the Futsal Navy Blues after the roof sprung a leak during their clash with Bay of Plenty Surge in Tauranga today.
The Nic Downes-coached City were raring to go for their 8.00am early kick-off when drops of water turned into a steady flow on court leaving organisers with no other option but to postpone the match.
The decision to can the game for the strangest of reasons could have had an adverse affect on the Futsal Navy Blues preparations for their last match of the Northern Travel Series with Waikato Rapids but with some sterling work got City stayed focused to pick up their third win of the weekend.
Kyaw Mya and Dylan Manickum goals gave City a comfortable 2-0 lead over the Rapids at the break only for Todd Broadhurst to pull one back as he did in Saturday's clash.
Controversy surrounded Manickum's second goal when there appeared to be two balls on court at the same time as the Rapids defence hesitated allowing the veteran to restore City's two-goal buffer.

Waikato Rapids didn't recover from that setback as Art Twigg then Thomas Picken added to the scoreline for City who claimed their third win out of three games.
Casey Sharplin was Waikato Rapids other scorer.
The Futsal Navy Blues, in partnership with Northern Regional Football, now await the rescheduling of the postponed fixture with the Ford Futsal SuperLeague National Series One coming up in March.
