AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC are set to face Ellerslie AFC in the Chatham Cup following today's draw held at North Harbour Stadium.
Coach José Figueira was pleased to receive a home draw for the Round 2 clash which takes place on Saturday 5 June 2021 at Kiwitea Street.
"Like with a normal week of league action, we'll assess things closer to the game.
"Its a busy weekend for us, we've got a catch up game with Bay Olympic on the Monday, so there's a couple of factors to think about leading into the Ellerslie match.
"You can be sure we'll approach it exactly the same way as we do with all games and pick the strongest possible group to get the right results," he told www.aucklandcityfc.com.
With Ellerslie AFC struggling in tenth place in the Lotto NRFL First Division with just one win and six defeats to their name, Auckland City FC go into the match as red-hot favourites.
Ellerslie AFC's only league win this season was a 2-1 victory over Bucklands Beach, the team below them in the league standings. They defeated Greenhithe 4-0 in the Chatham Cup 1st Round on Saturday.
Figueira preferred not to focus on that aspect of the draw but was instead happy to have a home draw.

"It's great to have the Chatham Cup draw confirmed against Ellerslie. I'm happy we get to start our first ever Chatham Cup run at Kiwitea Street.
"The Chatham Cup is always very special to be part of and I'm delighted we're at home for it," he said.
With Auckland City FC knocking Melville United over 3-0 and the Chatham Cup draw fresh out this afternoon, Figueira said the team is looking strong as it approaches the halfway mark in the Northern League.
"I thought off the back of last week we were fantastic at Melville United. That was one of our strongest and best performances.
"Melville United pressed us early and we played through the press. They sat in a deep block but we found a way through.
"Everyone is very focused, very invested and everyone is rolling their sleeves up and doing the small things that allows our quality to shine through.
"Two clean sheets in a row caps off a really great day.
"Aidan Carey was excellent along with Ilham Hameedi but in truth I could pick out anyone of the players today, we were that good.
"It was good to see Reid and Alfie get game time with the U-23s and its part of our philosophy to improve and make everyone better.
"Everyone is humble, wants to play and be their best self, and help the younger players come through.
"The young players are also backing it up with strong performances for the U-23s.
"Our biggest work on is maintaining our concentration, intensity and understanding we have a very strong squad and need to work hard together and hopefully reap the rewards together."
