AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC and Central United FC are saddened to hear of the passing of long time supporter Paul Brown.

Paul was a dedicated member of the club's 248 Service Crew and followed both Auckland City FC and Central United FC.

Paul is survived by wife Anne, daughters Emma and Eliza, and son, Nick.

Nick at first joined his father in the main stand to support the clubs as a fan but since 2013-14 season has operated the social media accounts in men's and women's football on a volunteer basis.

In recent seasons, Eliza, studying a physiotherapy degree, provided volunteer physio services to the Central United FC women's team.

Both Anne and Paul attended games at Kiwitea Street together with family and often travelled to away games.

Paul passed away at Mercy Hospice on Wednesday 5 May, 2021, after an 11 month battle with Glioblastoma.

Club president Ivan Vuksich paid tribute to Paul and the Brown family.

"The Brown family have been valued supporters of Auckland City FC and Central United FC over a number of years and contributed much to our clubs.

"Our thoughts, love and support are with Anne, Eliza, Emma and Nick at this very sad time," he said.

Auckland City FC will wear black armbands and hold a minute's silence in remembrance of Paul prior to Saturday's Northern League match on Saturday 8 May, 2021.

A funeral will not be held for Paul, as per his wishes.
