AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC and Central United FC are in mourning following the passing of club stalwart Goris Dobrec.
Club chairman Ivan Vuksich said both Auckland City FC and Central United FC were deeply saddened to lose a person who made such a big impression on everyone connected with Kiwitea Street.
In a message to all club members, Vuksich said the following:
"Dear Members and Friends,
It is with huge sadness that we inform you of the passing of a highly regarded club stalwart and friend, Goris Dobrec.
Goris, one of the real characters of the club passed away earlier this morning after a courageous battle with cancer.
We are privileged that this wonderful, kind, clever, fun loving man was so much part of our club fabric.
Goris loved his club, he loved football and he always expected our teams to produce the perfect game. This used to result in some very enlightened discussions after each match. I will miss his post-match analysis greatly.
We have lost a great friend and a great man. The genuine affection we all share for Goris will forever remain in our hearts. Rest well Goris.
Our deepest condolences go out to Drina and the family at this very sad time.
on behalf of the Committee and Members of Central United FC."
