ACademy launches Futsal programme

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC's ACademy has launched a Futsal programme led by Futsal Whites and Navy Blues star Dylan Manickum.

Manickum has been a key figure for club and country in both forms of the round ball game and now leads ACademy's Futsal strategy into the future.

The program will focus on developing technique and giving players the tools to be able to execute the ideas they have in their heads.

With the focus heavily on technique and the ability to execute skills effectively, we aim teach players to think on their feet and recognise which techniques are best suited for which situations.

Futsal techniques are directly transferable to Football so whether your child is looking to improve in the Futsal space or the Football space the techniques taught will be relevant.

Many great football players like Ronaldinho, Iniesta and Messi were brought up playing futsal.

South Americans in particular have been using futsal for years to build a base skill level in younger players and due to the fast paced, small sided nature of the game players experience more situations, more often than they do in Football.

This allows for more experiences to be had and players develop skill through game specific repetition at a faster rate.

"My aim is to use the benefits of futsal and futsal technique to help players develop and provide them with alternative ways of thinking about in game situations while at the same time providing solutions that they can execute effectively," Manickum said.

For players born 2012 (U8) to 2004 (U16) who are looking to improve technically in both football and futsal.

The focus is on using futsal techniques to find alternate solutions to game scenarios and give players the ability to execute these ideas.
