International Round Up
AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC players and staff were active on the international stage this week with the New Zealand U-17 and Futsal teams in action.
Dylan Manickum's Futsal Whites scored big wins at the OFC Futsal Championship in New Caledonia, knocking over American Samoa 9-0 and Vanuatu 8-1 as they chase a place in the semi-finals.
Manickum bagged a hat-trick in the victory over American Samoa and was also on target with a goal in the win over Vanuatu.
Brad Wilson was in action in the New Zealand U-17's 2-1 defeat to Angola in Brasilia with Luca Taylor and Nathan Lobo on the bench earlier this week. Jose Figueira's youngsters were unlucky in their 3-0 defeat to ten man Brazil with Wilson and Lobo both appearing off the bench.
The New Zealand U-17's final group match is with Canada on 1 November at the Estádio Bezerrão, Gama. The Kiwis will have to score a big win over Canada to have any hope of qualifying for the last 16 as one of the four best third placed teams and hope other results elsewhere go their way.
The Futsal Whites are also in action on the same day when they play host nation New Caledonia at L'Arène du Sud in Païta where a win will give Manickum and his team-mates top spot in the race for a favourable semi-final opponent.
