Barcelona dream alive for Gillion
AUCKLAND, New Zealand - A dream trip to FC Barcelona for Fergus Gillion is about to become reality thanks to Auckland City FC.
Fergus Gillion attended the FCB Escola Camp held in Auckland last year and was selected by the FC Barcelona Escola coaches to travel to Barcelona to train with the club's camp in March.
Auckland City FC contributed $5,000.00 towards Fergus' dream trip to FC Barcelona.
Club chairman Ivan Vuksich was delighted to see a local youngster live out their dream of experiencing first hand all the FCB Escola Camp and FC Barcelona have to offer.
"The FCB Escola Camp was a tremendous experience not only for everyone at our club but most importantly for all the many youngsters who got to live and breathe the football culture and values of one of the best clubs on earth.
"We're delighted Fergus Gillion and his family are going to enjoy a first hand experience of the FCB Escola Camp and that Auckland City FC can play a significant role in making that happen," Vuksich said.
Auckland's next FCB Escola Camp is scheduled for April 2017.
The official FCB Escola Camps give a chance for young players to learn the football methodology that has made FC Barcelona the most admired team in the world for its playing style.
The camps are directed by the FCB Escola coaches directly from FC Barcelona and focus on the training of young footballers in order to facilitate learning of football tactics and skills in accordance with the methods used in the FC Barcelona youth system.
Participants take part in training, leisure and recreational activities related with football and FC Barcelona and gain an understanding of the benefits of doing sport in a fun and relaxed environment.
The FCB Escola Camps foster coexistence among school-age children from different places, cultures and concerns but that share the same passion for football and Barça.
The camps also transmit the values represented by FC Barcelona: Humility, Effort, Attitude, Respect & Teamwork
In addition to world class training, each player will also receive the Camp’s Official Nike Kit (Shirt, Shorts and Socks), valued at over $100.
