500 Tickets Gifted to Honiara School

HONIARA, Solomon Islands - Auckland City FC have again demonstrated the power of football to inspire and uplift communities.

In a heartwarming initiative, the Navy Blues, alongside their major sponsor Ockham Residential, have gifted 500 tickets to students of the King George VI National High School in Honiara for Saturday's OFC Champions League final. The match, which pits Auckland City FC against Papua New Guinean champions Hekari United, is set to be a sell-out at Honiara's National Stadium.

The gesture was born out of an inspiring visit by the Auckland City FC players to the school earlier this week. Deeply moved by the students' enthusiasm and passion, the players took it upon themselves to ensure the students could attend the final.

With tickets in high demand and hard to come by, the players' initiative was fully supported by the club and Mark Todd of Ockham Residential, who is in Honiara to back the Navy Blues' campaign. Together, they purchased the tickets on behalf of the players, showcasing a united front of generosity and community spirit.

Chris Kemp, Auckland City FC's Chef de Mission, praised the playing group for their values and culture, describing them as "a remarkable group of players and men."

His sentiments were echoed by King George VI National High School Principal Augustine Omearo, who expressed heartfelt gratitude during the ticket handover. "These tickets will bring a lot of smiles to my students," he said, highlighting the profound impact of the club's generosity.

As the Navy Blues prepare for their showdown with Hekari United, they carry not only the hopes of their fans but also the joy and support of the students who will be cheering them on from the stands.
