WELLINGTON, New Zealand – The opening day of the 2024 National Youth Futsal Championships at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, was filled with success for Auckland City in partnership with NRF.

U15 Boys:The U15 boys started strong against defending champions Waikato, taking an early lead and maintaining control to finish as 5-2 winners. The day ended with a 4-2 victory against Hawkes Bay, showcasing impressive futsal and character in the final minutes. U15 Girls: The U15 girls faced a tough start against Waikato, going down 2-0 early but ultimately losing 7-2. In their second game, they bounced back with a 3-0 win against Hawkes Bay, maintaining their lead throughout the game. U19 Men: The U19 men began their tournament with a 2-2 draw against a well-drilled Waikato side. Despite taking the lead twice, they couldn't hold on, with Waikato equalizing in the final seconds. The team has three more games on day two. Scorers: Ryan Revill, Freddie Gibbins

U19 Women: The U19 women had a successful start with a 2-0 win against defending champions Capital, controlling the game from the start. Their second match against Hawkes Bay was tightly contested, ending in a 1-0 victory thanks to heroic saves from both goalkeepers. Scorers: Penny Brill, OG, Alyssa Wong
