Victorious start for Futsal Navy Blues

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC have kicked off their 2024 Ford Futsal SuperLeague season with back-to-back wins over Hawkes Bay Futsal in their Home Series double-header on Saturday.
Following a keenly contested first half, the decisive moment of the opening match came in the 30th minute courtesy of an own goal by Luca Barclay.
The second game was an other competitive affair with Auckland City were made to work hard to break down their rivals resolute defence.
The Futsal Navy Blues grabbed the lead in the 18th m minute as a result of another own goal, this time by Sam lack, before doubling their lead a minute before the end thanks to a lovely touch by Tom Picken.
Risqi Triyanto HB Futsal pulled one back for HB Futsal second later at the other end but the Futsal Navy Blues held on to a deserved win to open their 2024 campaign with two wins from two.
Stephen Ashby was delighted with picking up all six points on offer.
“First couple of games of the SuperLeague, we have to iron out a few things but yeah happy to win both games.
“Super important to pick up six points from the first two games, it really sets us up in the right direction for the rest of the season,” said the Futsal Navy Blues skipper.
