AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Vastly experienced sports events and competitions manager Chris Kemp has joined Auckland City FC as Group Manager for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in December.
Chris brings 16 years of management experience to the role through his previous involvements with North Harbour Stadium, New Zealand Football and Oceania Football Confederation.
Throughout his career Kemp has worked at a number of high profile international sports tournaments in various roles including six FIFA World Cups with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 amongst his highlights.
After taking up the role with immediate effect Kemp expressed his delight to join Auckland City FC on their 2023 Club World Cup journey.
“Being part in a FIFA World Cup event is a special experience for everyone.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved with Auckland City FC in the Club World Cup and assisting the players and coaching staff to make their experience as smooth enjoyable and successful as possible,” he said.
The FIFA Club World Cup, which in 2023 will be hosted by Saudi Arabia from 12-22 December, is one of the premier events on the global football calendar and Auckland City FC have a proud record and affiliation with the tournament with 11 previous appearances and a third-place finish in 2014.
Auckland City FC General Manager Gordon Watson is confident Kemp will bring the necessary logistics and operational skills to the the club’s 12th campaign.
“Chris has a great reputation for professionalism and excellence in his work.
“His leadership and project management experience is well-known throughout football and we’re delighted to have him on board for what will be a tough assignment at the FIFA Club World Cup in December,” Watson said.
