Youth Futsal takes centre stage

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC has again partnered with Northern Region Football to deliver a representative program for the NZ Football Youth Futsal Championship.

This is the pinnacle youth futsal event in New Zealand and an opportunity for the region's best futsal players to train together and then compete in the national championship in December.

Futsal White and Auckland City FC player Dylan Manickum is excited about the action thats about to unfold.

“The youth futsal championship is a wonderful tournament with lots of talent on display. We’ve put a development program in place to help players learn specific futsal techniques and tactics with our experienced coaches," Manickum said.

2021 saw Auckland City partner with NRF and became the first club to be involved in the competition competing in the traditional ‘Auckland Football Federation’ name and colours alongside the other six federations. 2022 will see the teams step on to the court for the first time wearing the Navy Blue colours.

“Futsal is a fantastic way for young players to develop technically as they get more touches on the ball and the opportunity to test themselves against the best players in the country is something I wish was available when I started playing.”

“I have found futsal to be an important part of my development and I am so happy that we are able to provide this chance to the new generation of players," Manickum added.

Teams involved from Auckland City will be U-15, U-17 girls and U-15, U-17, U-19 boys.

There are still positions available for U-17 girls, U-15, U-17 and U-19 boys.
