AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC was delighted to welcome back inaugural season coach Allan Jones as its special guest for Saturday's National League Championship clash with Wellington Phoenix.

Jones coached Auckland City FC to two New Zealand Football Championship titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06 and also its first OFC Club Championship title win in 2006.

Club Ambassador Arthur Egan hosted Jones, a coach Egan served as logistics manager for his entire tenure.

"It's always a delight to come back to Kiwitea Street, it's like coming home for me. We started the club in 2004 and were very successful at that time and that's gone on and on and on - we've done so well over the last 12-15 years.

"I'm happy to be back here to see everyone again.

"The current team is an evolving team. Many people assume you're going to be the same, year in and year out, but its not always like that.

"When I look at the age of the team they could be a major force not only in New Zealand but also the international stage.

"Hopefully, when Auckland City FC goes back into the FIFA Club World Cup we'll see how good they are," Jones said.
