RUSSIA - Former Auckland City FC and Central United FC defender Marko Đorđević has joined Ramon Tribulietx at Russian club FC Akron in a coaching capacity.

The 38-year-old Đorđević played 56 times for the Navy Blues and scored five goals wining three OFC Champions Leagues and two New Zealand Football Championship titles including netting the winner in the 2015 final victory over Hawke's Bay United.

Đorđević was also a key figure in Auckland City FC winning the bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco in 2014.

He was also integral in helping Vanuatu side Amicale win the TVL Premier League in 2013.

Born in Kruševac, Đorđević played professionally in Kazakhstan and Serbia before featuring for Tribulietx at Kiwitea Street.

He also played two winter seasons with Central United FC and enjoyed a stint as assistant coach before returning to Serbia.

Đorđević joins Yagiz Çekem and Hugo Klingor as part of Tribulietx's backroom team.

FC Akron Sporting Director Chris Dockerty said:

"We wanted to hire a team of specialists, and not invite a head coach with 5 employees.

"Marko is a former professional centre-back who will be in charge of defensive operations, while Yagiz Çekem, 30, has worked as an assistant coach in the Turkish Super League. He will work with us as a set pieces specialist - corners, free kicks and throwouts.

"Hugo Klingor has 11 years of experience at the Dinamo Zagreb Academy, one of the most productive academies in Europe. Hugo will join the Academy as Technical Director and will implement the same structured learning process for each age group that has helped develop many of Croatia's talented football players. In addition, he will be involved in the training process of the first team."

Dmitry Yemelyanov takes on the role of head coach until the status of Tribulietx's coaching license is resolved.

Tribulietx holds the qualification of a sports coach of the highest category, awarded in Spain after completing the necessary paperwork.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation considers such a license to be sufficient for head coaching duties in any division of the Spanish football league system that would normally require a UEFA Pro license.

According to the rules of the Russian Football Union, this license is not enough for Tribulietx.

FC Akron intends to work closely with the Russian Football Union and the Royal Spanish Football Federation on this issue, as well as provide the license required for registration.

In a statement on the FC Akron website, Dockerty said: "Ramon will be responsible for the implementation of the general strategy, methodology and tactics of the main team of FC Akron, analysis of all areas of the club's football strategy, and close interaction with the entire coaching staff as a technical director. The head coach of the team will be Dmitry Yemelyanov, who has been working for FC Akron for a long time. At the moment, Dmitry is studying for a UEFA Pro license."
