The first leg was a tight affair with goals by David Mulligan and Daniel Koprivcic handing the Navy Blues a seemingly comfortable 2-0 lead.
Substitute Axel Williams halved the deficit to set up a nervy trip to Papeete and gave the Laurent Heinis-coached AS Tefana a valuable away goal.
Could the Navy Blues sew up a fourth title and book their tickets to the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2012?
