ARBROATH, Scotland – Auckland City FC Board Member Colin Cook enjoyed a warm welcome at Arbroath FC last week as part of his return visit to his hometown.
3 September 2025
Cook, who originally hails from Arbroath, was hosted at Gayfield Park by the current CEO of the club. He received a full tour of the facilities, exchanged ideas on football development and governance, and reconnected with the Red Lichties at a time when the club are competing strongly in the Scottish Championship.

The match itself provided plenty of drama, with Arbroath securing a 1–0 victory over Airdrieonians thanks to a second-half strike from Nikolay Todorov. The win added to the occasion and allowed Cook to experience first-hand the strong community spirit that surrounds Arbroath FC.
While in Scotland, Cook also attended the Tayside Derby between Dundee United and Dundee FC, continuing Auckland City’s connection with clubs in the region, reflecting Auckland City’s ongoing commitment to building meaningful international relationships.

Cook’s visit follows earlier links between Auckland City FC and Arbroath, when he and fellow board member and head coach Paul Posa attended the testimonial of Arbroath legend Ricky Little in 2023.
The ties between the two clubs remain strong, supported by Cook’s personal connections to the Angus region and his passion for linking New Zealand football with Scotland’s proud football culture.
