After a short but intense build‑up, Mozr believes the group has made strong progress, both tactically and physically, and is ready for the challenge of facing the reigning Northern League champions in what many are calling the match of the round.

“For the weeks we’ve been together, I’m pleased with how the team is working and taking information on board,” Mozr said. “The boys have been sharp, they’ve pushed each other, and we’re excited to get into competitive football again.”

Mozr also highlighted the importance of coming through pre‑season without major injuries, noting that the squad will travel to Seddon Fields at full strength.

“It’s always better to be in season than in pre‑season,” he added. “Everyone, players, staff, fans are looking forward to Saturday. Western Springs away is always a tough game, but it will be a good football match and a great way to start.”

Meet the New Navy Blues: Six Fresh Faces for 2026

Alongside the returning core, the National League champions welcome six new signings into the first‑team environment, a blend of youth, experience, and international backgrounds. Here’s a closer look at the new arrivals and what they bring to Kiwitea Street.

Michal Doudera — Midfielder (Czech Republic)
DOB: 1 September 1999
Height/Weight: 179cm / 74kg
Previous Clubs: Sokol Brozany, Bay Olympic, Admira Prague, Bohemians Prague, Slavia Prague

The Czech midfielder arrives with a strong technical background and experience in competitive European environments.

“It’s a big opportunity for me to be at this club,” Doudera said. “I want to help the team win everything we aim for and I’ll give 100% every time I’m on the pitch.”

Mozr praised his adaptability and professionalism, noting that Doudera has settled quickly and brings real quality in midfield.

Kieran Richards — Midfielder (New Zealand)
DOB: 23 July 2000
Height/Weight: 180cm / 79kg
Previous Clubs: Melville United, Birkenhead United, Napier City Rovers

A composed, intelligent midfielder with strong National League experience, Richards adds depth and maturity to the centre of the park.

“It’s a privilege and an exciting opportunity,” he said. “I’m looking forward to playing good football and hopefully winning trophies with this group.”

Mozr describes him as a calm presence who understands the tempo the team wants to play at.

Shaan Anand — Winger (New Zealand)
DOB: 2 June 2007
Height/Weight: 179cm / 74kg
Previous Club: Auckland United

One of the most exciting young talents in the region, Anand brings pace, flair, and fearlessness to the flanks.

I’m really stoked to be here,” he said. “It’s an amazing club with a lot of history. Wearing this badge means a lot and I want to play with my heart out.”

Mozr has been impressed with his attitude, calling him young, hungry, and brave.

Nicholas Zambrano — Forward (Chile/New Zealand)
DOB: 15 July 1996
Height/Weight: 180cm / 75kg
Previous Clubs: Dunedin City Royals, Auckland United, Birkenhead United, Central United

A versatile attacker capable of playing across the front line, Zambrano returns to Auckland with a point to prove.

“When I first arrived in New Zealand, Central United was my first club and Auckland City was always the dream,” he said. “My goals are simple: have fun, score goals, and enjoy every moment.”

Mozr sees him as a dynamic option who brings energy and unpredictability in the final third.

Tom Golding — Winger (New Zealand/Australia)
DOB: 15 April 2000
Height/Weight: 178cm / 71kg
Previous Clubs: Birkenhead United, Manningham United, Eastern Lions, Manukau United.

Golding arrives with a reputation for consistency and reliability, having impressed across both New Zealand and Australian competitions.

“I just want to get the best out of myself and play consistent football at the highest level possible,” Golding said.

Mozr values his versatility and ability to read the game.

Nathan Rostron — Defender (New Zealand/British)
DOB: 8 June 2004
Height/Weight: 192cm / 83kg
Previous Clubs: Birkenhead United, Tauranga City

A tall, athletic defender with strong aerial presence, Rostron is one of the most promising young centre‑backs in the region.

Currently studying finance at AUT, he balances football with academics, but his ambitions are clear.

“My aim is to help Auckland City win every competition we’re in,” he said. “And personally, I want to become a professional footballer.”

Mozr believes he has huge potential and the right mentality to grow quickly.
