PLAYER PROFILE - Te Atawhai HUDSON-WIHONGI

Now in his third season with the Navy Blues, Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi is now a regular in the full New Zealand squad under coach Anthony Hudson.

Capable of playing as a centreback or anywhere in the centre of midfield, Hudson-Wihongi played a role in New Zealand's recapture of the OFC Nations Cup in Papua New Guinea back in June 2016.

Hudson-Wihongi was an important part of the Navy Blues team that secured a six-in-a-row OFC Champions League title in 2016.

Played a full game for the Navy Blues in the 2-0 defeat to J.League winners Sanfrecce Hiroshima at the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2015.

Emerged as one of New Zealand's most exciting talents at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2015.

Hudson-Wihongi has had to endure a tough rehabilitation after a serious knee injury just prior to the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016 but has showed character, fortitude and determination to reach full fitness.

A Manchester United supporter, he rates Zinedine Zidane as the best footballer he's ever seen but opts for new Navy Blues signing Kris Bright as his favourite local.
