PLAYER PROFILE - Emiliano TADE
Tade's story is every bit as interesting as anyone who has dared to dream of an overseas adventure experience only for it to lead to the unexpected fulfillment of childhood dreams.
The Argentine arrived in New Zealand in 2007-08 as a backpacker and picked up a job as a dishwasher at a restaurant before he decided to try his luck at Team Wellington in the New Zealand Football Championship.
Tade immediately caught the eye with his uncanny finishing ability in front of goal and in tandem with Luis Corrales, wrought havoc amongst defences in the competition.
He signed for Auckland City FC in the 2011-12 season but had to wait patiently behind Daniel Koprivcic, Corrales and Manel Exposito, before making his own impact in Navy Blue.
A constant goal threat in every campaign, Tade came into his own during the 2014-15 season when he played a key role in the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2014 adventure.
Offered a professional contract as a result of his performances back in his homeland of Argentina with Mitre, Tade departed New Zealand temporarily only to return for the start of the 2015-16 campaign.
Capable of playing in either midfield or as a forward, Tade's improvement seems to know no limit as the club continues to compete for domestic, regional and international recognition.
Not surprisingly Tade believes Diego Armando Maradona to be the greatest player of all time but adds team-mate Enaut Zubikarai as his favourite player on the domestic scene.
His objective for the 2017-18 season is to improve on last year's performances and beat Angel Berlanga at Chess.
Tade spent two seasons in South Africa, his first with AmaZulu, the second an $800,000.00 NZD move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Argentine returned to Auckland City FC in the transfer window of January 2020 following an injury-laden finish to his time in South Africa.
Tade is the Navy Blues all-time record goalscorer with 112 goals from 170 games as of March 2020.
