Darren White made his NZ Premiership debut for Waikato FC back in 2008 under then coach Roger Wilkinson and would go on to enjoy a big domestic career that has taken in stops with Canterbury United and of course the Navy Blues.

Originally signed as a forward, White has since found himself converted into an attacking right back and in the absence of Angela Berlanga, has donned the skipper's armband.

Born in England but headed towards New Zealand citizenship, White began his career with a spell at German club Hansa Rostock.

Since signing for the Navy Blues four years ago, White has won four OFC Champions League titles, two NZ Premierships, the OFC President's Cup, one Charity Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup bronze medal.

White's influence during the club's run to bronze in 2014 cannot be understated with the player scoring in both penalty shoot-out wins over Moghreb Tetouan and Cruz Azul.

He lists Mesut Ozil as the most difficult opponent he has faced in the game so far and Paul Gascoigne as the best player he's ever seen.

White says his main objective for the 2017-18 campaign is to win every trophy the club competes for.

Cole Peverley is White's favourite local player and his he plays his winter football with Glenfield Rovers in the Lotto NRFL Premier Division.
