HONIARA, Solomon Islands - Ability, skill, potential and something to prove - Auckland City FC coach Ramon Tribulietx says the Solomon Warriors are going to make life tough for the Navy Blues on Saturday.

Auckland City FC need just a point from their final match to confirm top spot in Group D of the OFC Champions League after two wins from two but with the Solomon Warriors losing their last match 3-0 to AS Magenta, Saturday's task is anything but straight forward.

And Tribulietx should know - his work with the Solomon Islands national team three years ago means he has the inside rub on what makes the Warriors squad tick right down to individual detail.

"I know the Solomon Warriors very well when I worked with the Solomon Islands national team at the OFC Nations Cup in 2016.

"I expected to see a few more players on the pitch against Magenta but unfortunately Philip Mango had to be substituted.

"He's a good goalkeeper who could be even better - he's very aggressive, powerful in the air and he's got very good feet.

"Hadis Aengari is a very strong player, very quick and a very good defender. Hadis is difficult to go past.

"John Alick from Vanuatu is a very good player and he dominates all areas of the game and can play a good diagonal long ball or a short pass.

"Jerry Donga is skilful and very strong on the ball and can turn quickly and can arrive very well in behind the line.

"Molea Tigi and Atkin Kaua are also good players who are quick and if you give them a chance they can hurt you.

"Kensi Tangis is a player who can shoot from anywhere, makes good runs in behind and he's got strength and he's a marquee player," Tribulietx told www.aucklandcityfc.com.

Despite the talent at their disposal, Warriors last match didn't go according to script as the New Caledonian's ran away from them with a 3-0 victory.

Tribulietx, though, believes the game could easily have gone either way.

"I wasn't too surprised by their last result because I've seen New Caledonian teams play Solomon Island teams before and these games either produce a lot of goals or they can become quite tight.

"I expected this clash to be very even although Magenta came away with three goals the Solomon Warriors missed a penalty and hit the post as well.

"The result could've been very different had the Warriors taken their chances. That match shows us what we need to do on Saturday.

"We must respect the Warriors especially after they've lost and in front of a home crowd it's going to be a very difficult game for us."

The action gets underway at Lawson Tama Stadium on Saturday 2 March 2019 and kicks off at 6pm NZST.
