Navy Blues visit National Hospital in Honiara
HONIARA, Solomon Islands - Auckland City FC'a players and staff paid a visit to the children's ward at the National Referral hospital on a humbling day for the Navy Blues in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Anticipation ahead of the OFC Champions League is reaching fever pitch with the Navy Blues putting on the finishing touches in their preparations but as always the club made a special effort to connect with locals in an emotional setting.
Solomon Islands international, Micah Lea'alafa was one of the most familiar faces to the people around the hospital and indeed his presence proved extremely popular with the children in the ward.

Assistant coach and former All Whites and Navy Blues legend Ivan Vicelich has played in the Solomon Islands on numerous occasions and each visit is always special.
"We always make a special effort to reach out to the local people in the Solomon Islands because they have a strong passion and love of football.
"I've played alongside some special players from Solomon Islands including Alick Maemae, Nelson Sale and Henry Fa'arodo and Micah has also made a huge impact with Auckland City FC.
"The Solomon Islands is a unique place but has challenges and it's important to maintain a link here that's strengthened by a mutual love of the beautiful game.
"There's no doubt a visit to this hospital has touched everyone deeply and given us a profound sense of gratitude for the advantages we have and enjoy back home but it's also given us a sense of purpose and responsibility in giving our time to people who are less fortunate than ourselves," Vicelich told www.aucklandcityfc.com.
Auckland City FC's first match of the OFC Champions League takes place on Sunday 24 February 2019 and kicks off at 3pm NZST.
