CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand - Coach Ramon Tribulietx spoke with www.aucklandcityfc.com about today's 1-0 win over Canterbury United in Christchurch - here's what he had
to say.

Maro Bonsu-Maro's 62nd minute goal handed the Navy Blues their 18th consecutive ISPS Handa Premiership win today and kept the club on course for yet another premiership title.

Tribulietx said he was pleased to get a victory in what were trying conditions against a committed opponent.

“It was a very tough game, as we were expecting. First half we started well first 20 minutes and we dominated and then we had the wind against us and to be honest the pitch is not an easy pitch to play possession football

"We lost a bit of confidence on the ball and Canterbury United were very physical, and that basically changed the way the first half was going," he told www.aucklandcityfc.com.

“The second 25 minutes they didn’t really have a clear chance, but they had 5 or 6 corners in a short space of time, and they were putting some pressure on us but it was more mental pressure than actual chances.

“At half time we talked about trying to be more confident and try to be more aggressive with the ball especially from the back cause on this type of pitch.

"Every time you try and play the ball into pockets and in between lines the ball is very difficult to control butn we got better and in the second half we actually dominated the match.

“In the second half, apart from Maro's goal, we had three or four very clear cut chances with Fabi hitting his shot just over the bar, Micah Lea’alafa twice getting in front of the keeper.

"Connor Tracey pulled a very good save from David Browne in a one on one but the ball bounced a bit and made it difficult for him to finish," he added.

Tribulietx said debutant Patrick Lundemo gave a good account of himself but would need time to get up to speed.

“Patrick did very well - he had a tough game against a very physical team in the first 20 minutes but he was okay.

"He was getting involved and tried to bring balls down for us and stretch them in behind and he tried to give us that option into feet up top but when we lost control of the game it made life tough for him trying to put some pressure on the back line when we were out of possession.

"He looked like he was getting tired as the game wore on but we have to be fair - it was the first comeptitive game for him in a couple of months.

"Overall, this was a positive start for him and I've got to be happy with his delivery. Patrick was very honest with his work rate and we’ve got to give him plaudits for that."

Tribulietx reserved special praise for Maro Bonsu-Maro who for the second time this season proved to be a match winner for Auckland City FC.

“Maro - what can I say about him? It's the second time he comes onto the pitch and scores a very good goal.

"He got the ball into the box back to front, he shielded the ball from a physical challenge, turned him and had a great shot to score a very very good goal.

"It was not an easy goal to score and it was one of those goals only someone like Maro can score. His strength and his quickness at turning has given us another three points.

"It’s great to have someone with Maro's positivity, with that great attitude - he always gives you 100 percent.

"But it’s not only attitude that he brings to the party, he brings quality in tight situations against very physical centre backs.

"It was a great spell from Maro and I'm very happy for him and very happy with the result of course.

"It was difficult today because we made a lot of changes to the team and gave players who hadn’t played for a while some minutes in their legs and that’s obviously going to affect momentum in a sense but everyone responded very well apart from those 20-25 minutes of the first half.

"It’s always very tough to come to Christchurch and win so again very happy with the outcome,"
