Auckland City FC is saddened to learn that one-time Supporter of the Year, Pavo Korunic, passed away on Thursday 16 August after a period of illness.

On behalf of all members of Central United FC and Auckland City FC our deepest condolences go out to the family and close friends of the late Pavo Korunic.

He was a fantastic supporter of both our clubs never missing a home match over the past few decades. Always accompanying him to these games was his daughter Paula as they took their regular seats above the dugout on match day.

Pavo was also the team manager for Central United’s first ever overseas tour in 1983 when the club was hosted by Jadran Hajduk in Sydney.

A year later he managed the iconic “Invincibles” side - still to this day the only Central United first team to complete an undefeated season.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pavo’s wife Maria along with his daughters Katya and Paula at this time.

A service to celebrate Pavo’s legacy will be held at Grange Manor, 400 Dominon Road, Mt Eden on Wednesday 22 August at 10:30am to be followed by an internment at Mangere Lawn Cemetery.

Pocivao u Miru.
Rest In Peace.
