CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand - Emiliano Tade makes a blazing comeback after his brace gives Auckland City FC a valuable 2-0 away win at Canterbury United.

Tade, who missed the Navy Blues draw with Southern United last week following an injury against Waitakere United, returned to action with a bang scoring two first half goals to hurt Canterbury United's playoff hopes.

That damage was mitigated somewhat by Wellington Phoenix upset 3-2 win over Waitakere United in the capital but the Dragons must now look over their shoulder after Tasman United rekindled their own playoff push with a 4-2 derby win over Southern United.

With Eastern Suburbs AFC beating Hamilton Wanderers 5-3, Wednesday's catch-up clash with Auckland City FC has all the hallmarks of a potential minor premiership classic with two points seperating the Navy Blues and the second placed Lilywhites.

That match kicks off at 6pm at William Hill Domain.

Team Wellington are perched at the top of the championship race after they held on to beat Hawke's Bay United 2-1 in Porirua.

Auckland City FC's next match is Wednesday's away game with Eastern Suburbs AFC.
