AUCKLAND, New Zealand - We take a look at today's opposition Tasman United in detail as the Navy Blues look to end 2017 on a high.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Formed in 2016, Tasman United are in their second season in the ISPS Handa Premiership under coach Davor Tavich who took over towards the end of the club's inaugural season in the New Zealand top flight. The club has made a solid start to the new campaign with two wins, four draws and tow defeats and boasts a wonderful array of talent including former Navy Blues Cam Lindsay, Abdullah Al-Kalisy and Yousif Al-Kalisy.

Throw into the mix a player with the experience of former Wellington Phoenix attacker Paul Ifill, the know-how of well-travelled midfielder Cory Chettleburgh and the exciting striker Tinashe Marowa and its easy to see why Tasman United are fast growing into a force to be reckoned with.

Tasman United managed to notch just four wins last season with Ifill finishing the club top scorer with eight goals. Marowa, 20, chimed in with seven in his debut season.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Tasman United and Auckland City FC have met only twice previously with Tasman losing the first encounter to the Navy Blues by 4-0 at Kiwitea Street on 29 October 2016. A goal each for Darren White, Ryan De Vries, Emiliano Tade and Joao Moreira were enough to give the Ramon Tribulietx-coached side a convincing victory. There was some measure of satisfaction for the visitors in the return match on January 15 of this year when a late goal to Nicolas Abot rescued a point for Tasman United in a 1-1 draw to cancel out an own goal by Daniel Allan on the hour mark.
