FAST FACTS

The match will be the 39th meeting between the sides in the ISPS Handa Premiership with the Navy Blues having won 25 and losing eight. There have been four draws. There have been three previous meetings in the Charity Cup with Auckland City FC winning twice in 2015 (3-0) and 2016 (3-1).

Team Wellington won the Charity Cup in 2014. Like Sunday's fixture, the 2016 match doubled as a premiership regular season match. In the OFC Champions League the teams have clashed four times with Auckland City FC winning all four matches in 2015 (1-1 then 4-3 on penalties), 2016 (3-0) and 2017 (3-0 and 2-0).

Auckland City FC last lost their first clash with Team Wellington in a regular season fixture when Matt Calcott's side downed the Navy Blues 4-0 at David Farrington Park in 2014. That remains the Navy Blues heaviest loss in all competitions since the club began in 2004.

Last season's 1-0 defeat to Waitakere United was the Navy Blues one and only defeat in the opening match of the Premiership since the inaugural competition in 2004-05 season.

Auckland City FC have won 11, drawn one and lost one of their last 13 season openers since 2004-05.
