Waiheke welcomes Navy Blues

Fun, laughter and smiles - that summed up the first day of the Fullers Festival of Football as the Navy Blues arrived on Waiheke Island ahead of tomorrow's pre-season friendly clash with ISPS Handa Premiership rivals Hamilton Wanderers.
16 players from the Auckland City FC first team squad joined 80 school children aged between 5 and 12 for some fun football clinics before the first team stars led by the likes of Albert Riera, skipper Angel Berlanga and All Whites internationals Liam Graham, Cam Howieson and Kris Bright signed autographs.
It all gets more serious tomorrow when the Junior Navy Blues take on Lotto NRFL First Division newcomers and hosts Waiheke United before the Navy Blues shift gears to face Ricki Herbert's Wanderers team.
Auckland City FC chairman Ivan Vuksich was delighted with the way the day went.
"It was important for us to make sure we gave something back to the local community here on Waiheke Island to support the Fullers Festival of Football.
"Waiheke United, Go Media and Fullers have been fantastic throughout the planning of these pre-season matches and we're excited about Auckland City FC playing at Onetangi Domain.

"Waiheke Island is a beautiful place with its own unique culture and attractions and with United winning promotion to the Lotto NRFL First Division next season the popularity of football can only grow further," said Vuksich.
The action gets underway at 10.30am with a local celebrity match before the Junior Navy Blues face Waiheke United at midday.
The Navy Blues meet Hamilton Wanderers at 2.45pm.
