WELLINGTON, New Zealand – Auckland City FC, in partnership with NRF, experienced mixed fortunes on Day 2 of the National Youth Futsal Championships at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington.
U15 Boys
WPX Academy 2-2 ACFC NRF - Auckland City faced a strong Wellington Phoenix side, resulting in an exciting end-to-end game that concluded in a 2-2 draw. Both teams had chances to win, but a draw was a fair result.
Canterbury United 2-5 ACFC NRF - The boys controlled possession and created numerous chances against a well-organized Canterbury team, finishing with a comfortable 5-2 victory. Scorers: Cailean Hamilton, Peter Ragon, Zach Tonkin (OG), Ayush Naidu, Anas Zara
U15 Girls
WPX Academy 2-3 ACFC NRF - Day Two began with a match against Wellington Phoenix. After conceding first, the team equalized with a top corner goal in the final play of the first half and held on for a 3-2 win through heroic defense and great saves. Scorers: Skye Murdoch, Abigail van der Meijden (2)
Hawkes Bay Futsal 3-0 ACFC NRF - The second game presented new challenges. Despite a determined performance, the team lost 3-0 but showed resilience throughout the match.
U19 Men
ACFC NRF 6-5 PN Marist - The U19 men had a closely fought 6-5 win over PN Marist to kick off their day. Scorers: Freddie Gibbins (3), James Marshall (2), Liam Buyck
ACFC NRF 2-8 Capital Futsal - In their second match, Capital Football proved to be a tougher opponent, resulting in an 8-2 defeat. Scorers: Mason Savage (2)
U19 Women
PN Marist 0-4 ACFC NRF - The U19 girls started their day with a dominant 4-0 win over Palmerston North, maintaining a strong defensive line for a clean sheet. Scorers: Penny Brill (2), Zoe Benson (2)
Hawkes Bay Futsal 1-6 ACFC NRF - Building on their momentum, the team earned a 6-1 victory against Hawkes Bay, showcasing relentless attacking play and solid teamwork. Scorers: Sophia de Pledge, Zoe Benson (2), Morgan Maccormick (OG), Sydney Sparks, Rosie Robson
