City U-17 Futsal girls make history
WELLINGTON, New Zealand - Auckland City FC U-17 girls made history after they finished runners-up to Waikato Rapids at the Youth Futsal Championship in Wellington last week.
A brace by Penny Brill saw City U-17 girls past Central Football in the semi-final only for a Manaia Elliott goal to hand Rapids a narrow 1-0 win in the final.
Auckland City FC, in partnership with Northern Regional Football, sent four teams to the tournament in the capital with the U-15 girls finishing fourth, U-17 boys sixth and the U-19 boys fifth during an exciting week on court.
In a personal highlight, Ashley Vincent won the Golden Gloves award for outstanding goalkeeping.
