PAPAKURA, New Zealand - East Coast Bays have won the Ford Futsal SuperLeague competition after thrashing the Futsal Navy Blues 8-2 in a lopsided final at Bruce Pulman Arena on Sunday.

The weekend had previously started with a hiss and a roar after Nic Downes side defeated East Coast Bays 4-2 courtesy of a Todd Broadhurst own goal, a brace by Josh Margetts and one from skipper Stephen Ashby-Peckham.

That was followed by a setback when the Futsal Navy Blues fell 4-2 to Waikato Rapids with Max Ericksen scoring twice, Cooper Wink and Casey Sharplin also chiming in with goals.

Mohammed Fardeen and Thomas Picken scored for the Futsal Navy Blues.

With qualification for the final secured, optimism of a repeat victory of two years ago was high but East Coast Bays were in no mood for such a story.

Eduardo Espinosa and Art Twigg each nabbed a brace, Dominic Hawkins bagged a hat-trick and Jason Quinlan rounded off Bays eight goals while there was consolation goals for Fardeen and Aalok Paudel for City.
