AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC completed the signing for All Whites defender Harshae Raniga as the 22-year-old contemplates life with the Navy Blues.

The former Waitakere United player travelled to Invercargill for his first involvement with the club during their 1-0 away win at Southern United.

He was also part of the squad for the match with the Wellington Phoenix and yesterday's hard-fought 1-0 win over Hawke's Bay United at Kiwitea Street.

He joins Enaut Zubikarai, Harry Edge and Albert Riera as Ramon Tribulietx's new signings for the 2016-17 campaign.

"To have this opportunity to be part of this team and to train again means I couldn't be anymore happier to be at Kiwitea Street.

"Auckland City FC was always a tough team to come up against especially the way they play the game.

"Most teams play differently in the Stirling Sports Premiership so now to be part of that is exciting.

"Everything is played on the ground, feet-to-feet and its something that plays to my strengths.

"I'm not what you would call a 'big boy' so the style of play helps my game," he said.

Raniga was a member of the New Zealand U-17 side which won the 2011 OFC U-17 Championship and was subsequently named in the squad for the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

He was called up to the U-23 side for the 2015 Pacific Games.

Raniga was first called up to the All Whites for a friendly on 7 September 2015 against Myanmar in 2015.

He made his debut briefly as a substitute, before coming from the field soon after due to injury in a 1–1 draw.

That injury would keep Raniga out of football for 12 months.

Raniga, wh has played his winter football with Onehunga Sports, is keen to put his injury woes behind him and make a contribution during what will be a long and competitive season for his new club.

"Its been a long 12 months and coming to Auckland City FC is down to all the prep work and rehab work thats been happening.

"I feel I've got something to add with my pace, I'm good with the ball at feet but more importantly I know how to play with a team.

"I'm a team player by nature, so understanding that helps me to help the team.

"I'm very adaptable and I'm excited about playing for the club.
"Obviously, its been a while since the injury so I'm keen to come back and represent the club in what I see as a great challenge," he said.
