AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC and Hawke's Bay United recognised the life of the late Brian Stanyer at a full Kiwitea Street this afternoon as the Navy Blues went top of the Stirling Sports Premiership.

A minute's applause for Stanyer was heard throughout the ground prior to kick-off in a pre-arranged moment of recognition while the Mount Albert Ponsonby AFC turned out in force.

The Brian Stanyer Memorial Trophy, which will be played for between Mount Albert Ponsonby and Central United at Anderson Park next pre-season, was presented to members of Brian's family in the post-match function at the Navy Blues clubrooms.

Mount Albert Ponsonby spokesman Keith Earl was delighted with the presentation.

"Auckland City FC has done a great job recognising the life of Brian Stanyer and everybody at the club is wrapped with the day," he said.

The trophy was presented by Auckland City FC chairman Ivan Vuksich before a full clubrooms.

"This is a fitting tribute to a man who made a big impression in local football and we're happy to see Brian's family and club members here," he said.
