AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Glenn Turner, the former FIFA Development Officer for the Oceania region, has died at the age of 74.

Turner oversaw significant growth in football and the completion of major infrastructure projects which Oceania continues to see the benefit of today.

Auckland City FC president Ivan Vuksich paid tribute to Turner on behalf of everyone at Kiwitea Street.

"It is almost impossible to encapsulate what Glenn meant to every one within the Oceania football community.

"He embodied everything that a football person should be. His character and leadership was second to none, and will live long in the memory of everyone who he worked with during his 17 years as FIFA Development Officer.

"Glenn was a friend to many, a very capable leader and an ambassador for the game of football - you see proof of the positive impact he had in the pacific wherever you travel.

"Glenn will be sorely missed by all of us at Kiwitea Street."

A service to celebrate Glenn Turner's life was held at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 34 Cobham Road, Kerikeri this morning.

Auckland City FC was represented by Glenn's former colleague and friend, Ray Vuksich, who laid flowers on behalf of the club and everyone at Kiwitea Street.
