AUCKLAND, New Zealand - The draw for the New Zealand Youth Futsal Championship has been announced with Auckland City FC set to be involved in the competition for the first time through an exciting partnership with Northern Region Football.

Dylan Manickum, Auckland City FC Futsal Director, has implemented a youth development program with some of best futsal coaches in the region, including Futsal Ferns Hannah Kraakman and Shivy Anthony leading the U19 and U16 girls teams.

Continuing on from the success in the 2020 Men’s Futsal Super League, NRF Auckland City FC is set to compete in the U14, U16 & U19 age grades for girls and boys and offer an opportunity for the regions best futsal players to excel in the national event.

Auckland City FC chairperson, Ivan Vuksich, was delighted the club's futsal involvement had deepened.

"It is a great moment in the history of Auckland City FC to see three girls youth futsal teams competing in the Youth Futsal Championship in 2021.

"We took big steps forward by winning the Futsal Super League earlier this year and to see us extend our reach into the female space is a healthy, progressive and necessary next step.

“Dylan Manickum has done a tremendous job in bringing this to life and everyone at the club wishes all six teams all the success possible," Vuksich told www.aucklandcityfc.com.

Manickum, who has been in good form for the club's Northern League, Chatham Cup and National League campaign, is excited about what is happening in the club's Futsal space.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for everyone involved to take Futsal to the next level and we're very excited to see how the Youth Futsal Championship unfolds.

"A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes to make it all possible and we're looking forward to next month," Manickum said.

The Youth Futsal Championship takes place at the ASB Sports Centre in Auckland from Saturday 17 July to Monday 19 July 2021.
