AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC U-23 skipper Brooklyn Heath praises Addison Stewart as youngster sets first team example for others to follow.

Stewart scored his first goal for Auckland City FC after just two minutes in the first team's 4-0 win over West Coast Rangers and made a big impression.

Only weeks earlier Stewart had hit a hat-trick in the U-23s 8-1 win over Northern Rovers and didn't look out of place in a first team jersey.

Now other players like Ilham Hameedi, Matt Ellis and Aiden Carey are putting together a string of impressive performances after playing in the National Youth League and U-23 set-up.

"It's good to hear when our players get a first team call-up and it's always good for the young players coming in.

"I think a lot of our players are knocking on the door of the first team and I think that's very motivating for everyone.

"Addison has been killing it in training and he's done awesome to score on his debut for the first team.

"He's been in his element in the first team training environment and it's been a great example for everyone to see," Brooklyn said.

Heath, who led Auckland City FC U-23s to a convincing 7-0 win over West Coast Rangers last Saturday, was delighted with another strong performance in the Lotto NRFL U-23 Premier Division.

And while he was pleased with his own performance, he highlighted there was always room for improvement.

"My work rate and that of the team against West Coast Rangers was very high which was pleasing.

"I was pleased with the way we fed possession through to our front players, that was a key element in my game on Saturday.

"We have to stay hungry when we're in control of games and go knocking on the door for more goals and playing to the whistle," he told www.aucklandcityfc.com
