AUCKLAND, New Zealand - The final ever Super City derby in ISPS Handa Premiership regular season history will attract some very special guests to Kiwitea Street on Saturday.

The main guest of Auckland City FC is former Waitakere United and Waitakere City stalwart, Rex Dawkins, hosted by club ambassador Arthur Egan.

Auckland City FC and Waitakere United's Super City derby rivalry stretches back to 2004-05 in the ISPS Handa Premiership with both clubs exchanging the title of National League winners through the first decade of the competition.

Now with the ISPS Handa Premiership going out of existence at the end of the current campaign, Saturday's match will definitely be the final time the pair meet in the league with Waitakere United, at the time of writing, understood to be winding up.

"It's a special ocassion marred by the fact that Waitakere United won't be continuing and brings to an end a 17-year rivalry that spanned the domestic league and OFC Champions League.

"We enjoyed a fierce rivalry with Waitakere United and some of the clashes were breath taking in their drama, ferocity and skill.

"It's an honour to host Rex Dawkins and many others, and I hope we get a game that lives up to the past intensity we've witnessed over the years," said club chairman Ivan Vuksich.

The game is scheduled for Saturday 27 February, 2021, and kicks off at 3pm NZDT at Kiwitea Street.

If Waitakere United do win on Saturday and clinch fourth place, it will set up a semi-final at Kiwitea Street between Auckland City FC and Waitakere United.
