AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Northern Region Football congratulate Auckland City FC on attaining the Y-License Accreditation as one of the first six clubs across region to reach this level of football development and delivery.

Auckland City FC achieved staggered accreditation for Mixed (boys) while full accreditation was conferred elsewhere around Auckland on both sides of the harbour bridge.

The six member clubs that have attained the Y-License for 2021 season delivery are:

Full accreditation – Mixed (Boys) and Girls: Eastern Suburbs AFC

Full accreditation – Mixed (Boys): Auckland Utd, East Coast Bays AFC

Staggered accreditation:

Mixed (boys): Auckland City FC
Mixed (boys) and Girls: Hibiscus Coast AFC, Western Springs AFC

NRF Area Managers Shane Verma, Liam Hunt & Hannah Kraakman have been working with the six clubs in 2020 to ensure that both the NZF Skills Centre Programme and the Talent Development Programme were criteria were met, both of which serve as pre-requisite requirements for the Y-License.

The achievement and on-going maintenance of the Y-Licence ensures clubs cannot be relegated from the NRFL Youth competition in 2021.

NRF GM of Football, Steven Upfold is delighted to see clubs attaining NZF accreditation for their Junior and Youth Programmes.

“It’s exciting to see a number of clubs reach accreditation in both Skills Centre and Talent Development Programme in 2020” Upfold said.

“Earning those programmes allowed these clubs to take the next step in attaining the Y-License accreditation.”

“The players and coaches in these environments will now get the benefit of an elevated standard of delivery and as more clubs reach required levels, our pathway and competitions will strengthen also – providing wider development benefits to the youth game.”

“Congratulations to each of the clubs on attaining the Y-License and we thank everyone involved for their hard work in the process.”
