AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Personality and character - those are the words Auckland City FC coach Jose Figueira chose to describe the fighting qualities of his side after they went down to ten-men in today's 2-1 win over Hamilton Wanderers in the ISPS Handa Premiership at Kiwitea Street today.
Figueira saw his side face a similar situation earlier this season in their 2-2 draw with Team Wellington at David Farrington Park and was delighted his side showed enough resilience to overcome a tenacious and well-organised Hamilton Wanderers.
"Delighted with the win. Its now three wins on the bounce with three strong performances. We showed all aspects of our personality today.
"Hamilton are right up there because they're a strong well organised team and make life very difficult and we knew they would coming into the game.
"We caused them a lot of problems and deservedly took a 2-0 lead and then the red card and going down to ten men changed the dynamic a bit.
"Delighted with the way the guys rolled their sleeves up and saw out the game.

"We had ten men down in Wellington where we were 2-0 up even earlier than that and conceded two quick goals.
"Today we've seen it out and showed great personality and character and it bodes well moving forward.
"The supporters were great. Every game we have here, we always have a great crowd and great atmosphere.
"We are always proud to have the supporters that we do and a community that support us and Hamilton brought up a big contingent too which is great to see - everyone enjoying live football.
"This year the league is ultra competitive and I'm delighted we're in the position we want to be.
