AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC's National Youth League title credentials go under the microscope when the Junior Navy Blues travel to Christchurch to face Canterbury United.

The Dragons youth team enjoyed a bizarre 6-5 win over Tasman United to kickstart their campaign three weeks ago but they were brought back to earth with a thump after a last gasp derby loss to Southern United in their last outing.

With the Junior Navy Blues only just hanging on to a precious 2-1 win over Tasman United, the match at English Park could be tight.

Goalkeeper Cameron Brown said the experience of winning that match has given the team a welcome boost ahead of the Canterbury game.

"Canterbury United away on the turf is tough. I've played there before and its always tough to go there and get a result.

"It'd be good to get three points and keep that winning sequence going. Three wins from three would be a good start to the season.

"Obviously to see the Tasman game out was good. They pressed us really high in the final moments. After they scored we did well to hold on for the result especially with the three or four corners at the end.

"We defend well from set-pieces and we managed to get the result that we wanted.

"Their ability in front of goal does factor in but we have to keep focused and play the game the way we want to.

"Nothing changes, we set up the same way and do the same things we have so far this season," Brown said.

Canterbury United's inability to keep a clean sheet is clear with seven goals conceded in just two games though Andy Peat's youngsters have also dropped a single goal both on the road and at home in theirs.

Leading the competition are Eastern Suburbs and Hamilton Wanderers both with 100 percent winning starts to the league.

Those two teams clash at Michaels Avenue Reserve in Ellerslie on Sunday so a window of opportunity has opened for the Junior Navy Blues to mount pressure on either should they both drops points.
