AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC is pleased to share it's health and well-being programme called 5 Ways 2 Wellness.

Inspired by Head of Methodology and first team coach Jose Figueira, 5 Ways 2 Wellness was launched internally at Auckland City FC and its ACademy programme.

The programme is built on key concepts designed after collaboration between Figueira and the club's technical team and coaching staff and is designed to alleviate the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 lockdown.

The five key concepts are:

Connect
Take notice
Give
Keep learning
Be active

After a successful internal delivery, Figueira is keen for it to be shared more widely.

The programme is aimed at the Navy Blues men's first team playing squad and staff, and the club's ACademy participants but Figueira believes others could take some value from it.

"The inspiration for this idea was born out of much discussion and planning from our technical team ahead of the four week isolation period imposed by the New Zealand Government.

"It is a challenging time for our players, both as footballers and as young people, so we wanted to provide some support of substance to help them," Figueira told www.aucklandcityfc.com.

"With our first team players well down the line with their own isolation program, that ensures we stay connected as a team tactically, physically and from a mindfulness perspective.

"With the use of technology we thought it made sense to carry this same idea through our ACademy teams," he said.

The response from participants has been overwhelmingly positive and Figueira was quick to point out the positive feedback the club had received.

"After just one week of the program now done the response as been very positive from all the players and their parents.

"The way the players have interacted with their team-mates, set challenges and goals and also built creative ways to work together as families has been very encouraging.

"After initially focusing on our ACademy teams, we thought it would be good to share our resources with our wider club, community and football partners as well as all players.

"We have some great initiatives coming up and hope we can help do our bit to suppprt families and footballers during this period," he added.
