AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Auckland City FC hit Waitakere United for six as the Navy Blues create Super City derby history.

Auckland City FC extended it's unbeaten start to the season with a 6-2 thrashing of their oldest rivals at Seddon Park.

The Navy Blues rout of Waitakere United had never previously reached beyond five goals but that all changed on a day where the former champions could've chosen their own score.

The demolition began when Dylan Manickum swept the Navy Blues into the lead with Cam Howieson doubling the advantage before the break with his third goal of the season.

Manickum was in the act almost immediately after the restart before Dane Schnell capitalised on some sleepy defending to give the hosts faint hope of a comeback.

That line of thought was soon put firmly in perspective when Myer Bevan scored his first goal in three games to restore the Navy Blues three goal cushion midway through the second half.

The humiliation was extended when Clayton Lewis grabbed his first goal since returning from Scunthorpe United to make it 5-1 with ten minutes left to play.

Another lapse in concentration allowed Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit to snaffle a consolation goal for Paul Hobson's men but any comfort from that was extinguished when substitute Maro Bonsu-Maro scored the historic sixth goal to complete the beating.

Auckland City FC's next match is at home to Hawke's Bay United on Sunday 19 January 2020.

The game kicks off at 2.00pm NZST.
